Nursing Student Loan Application Form 2024-2025 - Complete this form to submit your application request.
The Nursing Student Loan (NSL) program is for eligible students in the Bachelors, Masters and
Doctoral Programs. The Nursing Student Loan program is funded through the Department of
Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration. It is a low-interest
federal loan program for nursing students with financial need. The interest rate is 5% and begins
to accrue nine months after graduation, or when the student ceases to be enrolled as a half-time
student with a 10-year payback period.
Eligibility:
- Must be a citizen or national of the United States, or a lawful permanent resident of the
United States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands, the
Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, or the Trust Territory of the Pacific.
- Must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full-time or half-time student in a
nursing school participating in the NSL program. The student must be in good standing,
as defined by the school, and capable in the opinion of the school of maintaining good
standing in the course of study.

If you have not previously received a Nursing Student Loan from another institution of higher
education, you must attest to that on the application. If you have previously received a Nursing
Student Loan from another institution you must provide APU with the financial aid transcripts to
ensure you have not awarded the aggregate loan limit. The financial aid transcript must include:
• student name and social security number;
• amounts and sources of loans and grants previously received by the student for study at that
institution;
• whether or not the student is in default on any loans, or owes a refund on any grants
