You are officially moving forward in the hiring process to become an APU Adjunct Faculty member with the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. We are excited you are here with us!
IMPORTANT: Please read and complete the following required action steps to complete your hiring process.
Action Step 1: Read Your Contract
If your contract is correct, please sign it as soon as possible. If there are any issues, please do not sign your contract and email [email protected] right away. For more information, refer to the SON Adjunct Faculty Contract Process.
Action Step 2: Complete All HR Onboarding Tasks
HR will send you an email shortly with instructions to complete your required onboarding tasks. Please complete all tasks promptly to prevent any delays.
Action Step 3: Understand Timekeeping/Kronos
You are required to log all of your working hours in our timekeeping system, Kronos. You must complete all of your onboarding tasks to gain access to Kronos. For training, FAQs, and further information, refer to Kronos and Timekeeping.
Action Step 4: Maintain Clinical Compliance Requirement
All clinical instructors are required to maintain compliance in order to be present at clinical sites. Please follow the steps below based on your assigned campus location:
- Azusa, Monrovia, Inland Empire, and High Desert Instructors
- You must create a CastleBranch account.
- Order package code: zu10 (APU will be invoiced)
- If a drug screen is required, order package code: zu10dt
- San Diego Instructors
- You must create an American Databank/Complio account.
- Follow your campus-specific instructions to complete the setup. Compliance must be fully completed before the start of your clinical assignment.
- Mandatory Clinical Instructor Training
- All clinical instructors are also required to complete the SON Clinical Training 2025–2026 Canvas Course. You must self-enroll in the course using the link.
- Once completed, download your certificate and upload it to CastleBranch (for Azusa/Monrovia/IE/High Desert) or Complio (for San Diego).
Action Step 5: Obtain APU Identification, Nursing Badge, and Parking Pass
Upon receiving an APU ID number, each adjunct must obtain their APU Identification Card and Nursing Badge (sometimes called the Clinical Identification Card).
Action Step 6: Attend SON Faculty Training
Adjunct faculty with signed contracts are required to participate in the SON Adjunct Faculty Workshops once a semester. Follow the Adjunct Faculty Development Meetings article for more information.
- If you are teaching an online, hybrid, or hyflex course, you must complete the Instructional Modality Certification course prior to teaching.
