Degree Conferral Verification for BRN NCLEX - Student Instructions

Student Instructions

1. Complete APU Grad Check

For Undergrad

    1. Ensure Graduation clearance and check your Graduation Requirements 
    2. Complete any necessary Academic Forms 

  For Graduate and Professional 

    1. Graduate and Professional Registrar Forms > Intent to Commence and/or Graduate Form
    2. Complete any necessary Academic Forms

2. Read and follow California Licensure Instructions

      1. Create a BreEZe account
      2. Apply for licensure for the NCLEX with the BRN. The BRN will communicate the payment and scheduling through NCSBN Pearson VUEDon’t forget to pay the fees.
      3. Complete the California Live Scan

3. Wait for your application to be processed

Processing Steps and Time Frames

After the semester ends: 

  • 2 Weeks - The registrar receives grades up to two weeks after grades are due.
  • 6 Weeks - The registrar confers degrees up to six weeks after receiving grades. Students are conferred if all of the following conditions are met:
    • The student has completed the graduation application (Formerly: intent to graduate),
    • their academic record is cleared (i.e. GPA, Course Incomplete, etc), and
    • their financial account is cleared. 
  • 2 Weeks - School of Nursing submits the required documentation to the BRN. 
  • The BRN Processing Times

Students, please direct questions to your program managers as contacting the Registrar or the BRN will slow their processes.  Program managers, please direct questions to Associate Dean Moorefield if you have any questions.
